Our History: GDEC’s Roots in the Heart of Aquin

The history of the Groupement pour le Développement Communautaire (GDEC) is intimately linked to the will and determination of its founders, men and women from Aquin who are deeply attached to their native land. Our organization officially came into being in June 2020, the fruit of a long process of reflection and civic commitment.

The origins of GDEC lie in a series of meetings, discussions and consultations that brought together individuals sharing a common vision for the future of their community. The majority of these pioneers were born in the first and fourth sections of the Commune of Aquin, areas with immense potential but also facing significant socio-economic challenges, just like the rest of the country.

Our vision

To become a leader in the production of services within the communities we serve, notably the communities of the first and fourth sections of Aquin, and the Haitian Aquino community living in Canada.

Our mission

Promoting sustainable change through training, production and environmental protection.

Our values

Transparency, accountability, environmental responsibility, inclusion, participation, community collaboration.
