Who we are
Welcome to the Groupement pour le Développement Communautaire (GDEC) website! We are a passionate organization, born in June 2020 from a series of meetings and consultations between Aquinois and Aquinoises, mainly from the first and fourth sections of the Commune of Aquin. Our vision is clear: to become an essential leader in the production of services within the communities we serve, be they Aquin chapters or the Haitian Aquino community established in Canada. Driven by core values such as transparency, accountability, environmental responsibility, inclusion, participation and community collaboration, we work every day to bring about meaningful and lasting change. Our mission is to promote sustainable change through training, production and environmental protection.
Education & Training
We actively support community educational and technical institutions, because we firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of all development.
Youth Development
We are dedicated to promoting the physical, cultural and intellectual development of children and young people in the community, offering them opportunities for growth and discovery.
Agricultural Innovation and Wellness
We encourage innovative initiatives in agricultural and agri-food production, promoting the general well-being of the population through sustainable practices and greater food security.
Our Key Achievements
Since our creation, GDEC has already made its mark through concrete, high-impact actions
Our areas of intervention and impact
GDEC is concentrating its efforts in the commune of Aquin, more specifically in the 1st and 4th communal sections. The area covered by our actions includes a series of localities along the Côtes-de-Fer road, from Carrefour 44 to Tête l’Etang, passing through the Saint-Castor, Saint-houx, Démarrais, Nan Citron and Duverger areas. The socio-economic situation in these areas is similar to that in the rest of the country, with fundamental livelihood problems that are tending to worsen. That’s why our intervention is so crucial and geared towards improving living conditions.

Join the Movement
GDEC currently has around 100 dedicated members, 34% of them women, who believe in our mission and contribute to our success. Our team is led by an 11-member Board of Directors, all committed to the cause of community development. Every year, we organize a Benefit Barbecue in Canada to raise essential funds for our work in Haiti.
We invite you to explore our site to learn more about our projects and the impact we’re making. If you would like to be part of this adventure and contribute to lasting change, please contact us. Together, we can make a difference!
